What’s the best way to keep up with Hume-Fogg happenings?
The simplest way to do this is to subscribe to our Email List and start getting the weekly e-News. This email captures at-a-glance all of the current “need-to-knows.” Plus, it is through the email list that we distribute the parent association’s newsletter, the Fogg Horn.
You can rest assured that we avoid the two major dreaded things when you give out your email: we do not flood your inbox with useless trivia and we never share our email list with others.
The school’s website is also a great resource. You can look at the calendar and the daily announcements to read about events and daily news.
How do I get messages out to the Hume Fogg community?
Short answer: email your information to our Communications Committee news triage person, hfanews@evrits.com. Or, click on the link to a handy form on the Hume-Fogg homepage that you can use to easily fill in all of the information the announcement would need. The communication policy is also on the website, so you can see the kinds of messages that are encouraged, and the kinds that are not allowed.
How do I get involved?
At Hume-Fogg, the parent-teacher organization is called the Hume-Fogg Association. All parents are automatically members of the Association. We welcome any parents to come to any meeting.
But if you’re not a “meetings” person, there are lots of ways to volunteer. Forms are available in the office, and on the web – see volunteer opportunities on the website, in the “Parents and Students” tab. We put all this information into a database and make it available to Hume-Fogg Association committee and event chairs, teachers, and staff. From time to time, you will receive requests for volunteers by e-mail. If you can help, respond to the e-mail message; if not, simply delete it.
How do I check on my student’s grades?
You can check grades online at GradeSpeed.
What’s the scoop on public transportation?
The MTA website http://www.nashvillemta.org/ is really helpful and has printable versions of all of the bus routes. The cost per ride is $.70. The students catch the buses at several places near the school, all within easy walking distance.
What are Hume Fogg's Standard School Attire colors?
Details about the school attire policy can be found at http://www.mnps.org/Page15449.aspx. HFA's 4 additional colors are black, royal blue, green, red, and Yellow.
Where can I buy Hume Fogg spirit items (Window decals, bumper stickers, T-shirts, hats, lanyards, and the like)?
The spirit shop is open on Fridays during the lunch period from 11:00 – 12:30. A list of everything available with their prices is on the Hume-Fogg website! |
